The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics is hiring worldleading specialists to maintain and expand the functions of the Neuroinformatics Platform a centralized mental health data lake. The platform supports multimodal data collection curation and integration to facilitate hospitalwide research data management query and analyses. Research at the center is performed in an open science environment with an emphasis on reproducible datadriven research and a patientcentric approach to accelerate identification and treatment of mental illness. A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment. The centre will operate as an incubator for medical technologies to identify manage and treat mental illness while shaping policy at national and global levels.
Position Summary
The Medical Imaging Research Methods Specialist role will be accountable for managing and enhancing the solution for collecting storing curating and integrating medical imaging data sets across the organization including but not limited to the following modalities: MRI PET and EEG. You will work closely with the senior architects on the technology team as well as collaborating with scientific leads. You will be accountable to evolve the technology solution to keep up with industry changes to ensure the solution remains optimal.

Key Accountabilities
Act as subject matter expert for medical imaging data management primarily MRI.
- Curation of medical imaging data including development and maintenance of provenance data models quality control scripts and pipelines.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify and implement ingestion and preprocessing requirements and recommend areas for process optimization.
- Implementation and maintenance of deidentification / anonymization framework for neuroimaging data.
- Selecting and integrating medical imaging toolsets and frameworks required to provide processing/integration capabilities.
- Develop appropriate visualizations and dashboards / reports of medical imaging data for stakeholders including QA/QC information.
- Implementation of Big Data technologies and data flow processes including data extraction and ETL processes to populate the Data Lake.
- Monitor performance of databases and data flow.
- Work with the security and infrastructure team to establish and enforce data retention and data security policies.
Performance Measurement
- Report regularly on imaging data management activities including quality control
- Provide comprehensive training and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Promote compliance with relevant legislation and regulations governing ethics quality and safety
- Ensure achievement of targets and desired outcomes
- Provide functional support and advice for the development and implementation of best practices
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree in Medical Physics Computer Science or related discipline
- 5 Years related experience with health services research
- Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze large databases and will have systematic literature review and synthesis skills.
- Experience with XNAT medical imaging data management software (or related/similar PACS sy
- Proficient understanding of medical imaging data acquisition and representations
- Expertise in designing and deploying preprocessing quality control and anonymization pipelines.
- Proficient in database technologies and database design bestpractices.
- Solid understanding of Semantic Graph Databases technologies tools and representations.
- Previous experience working with SQL DB2 and ETL tools.
- Proven experience in dealing with complex data with techniques around wrangling/munging and semantic representations.
- Solid understanding of neuroimaging data models (such as NIDM).
- Solid understanding of distributed computing and Hadoop ecosystems.
- Experience with Map Reduce and Spark.
- Experience with DevOps (Continuous Improvement and Continuous Development) processes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to facilitate open discussions to highlight issues and develop a broadly acceptable consensus amongst diverse stakeholders.
- Strong familiarity with GE MRI scanners pulse sequences and data flows.
