What will I do as a Finishing Operator:
The Finishing Operator is responsible for the safe operation of homogenizing furnaces cooling chambers band saws lathes and other equipment in the finishing area. The operator receives cast products follows process instructions and ensures quality standards are met. Key job functions include:
- Operate Specialized Equipment: Safely and effectively operate homogenization furnaces cooling chambers saws lathes and other machinery ensuring optimal performance at all times.
- Material Handling: Load and unload materials using forklifts or overhead cranes with care selecting the correct processes for each product to guarantee highquality results.
- Quality Control: Monitor and inspect materials both during and after processing verifying that finished products meet customer requirements and industry standards.
- Precision Measurements: Utilize accurate measuring instruments to record material dimensions ensuring all measurements align with customer specifications and internal standards.
- Identification and Tracking: Stamp or mark materials for proper identification and track product progress through computerized systems ensuring traceability throughout the production process.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete necessary paperwork and data entry ensuring accurate records of production inspection results and machine maintenance.
- Basic Machine Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment troubleshooting issues when needed to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following all safety protocols and procedures. Ensure that work areas are organized and compliant with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and contribute to achieving production goals. Communicate effectively about product quality machine performance and any issues that arise.
What do I need to be a Finishing Operator
- High school diploma or GED A solid foundation in education is essential to thrive in this role.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. All applicants must have the legal right to work within the United States (Visa sponsorship is not available).
- Physical fitness and background clearance Must be able to pass a physical test and background screening to ensure the ability to meet the demands of the job in a safe and effective manner.
- Flexible shift availability The ability to work any shift including evenings nights weekends and holidays is a key part of maintaining operations.
- Forklift certification Must successfully complete the Ellwood Aluminum Forklift Certification training program to operate forklifts safely and proficiently in the facility.
