Job Description

Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Stretcher Operator in our Wellsville PA location. The Stretcher Operator operates a hydraulic stretcher/clamp to straighten and stretch extrusions to in-house standards and customer specifications. The Stretcher Operator performs the duties of both the Head and Tail Stretcher.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for stretching a quality product watching for dents bends scratches die lines and other defects. Reports all problems and defects to the Shift Foreman or Lead Person.
  • Uses blocks and gauges when needed.
  • Regularly checks all equipment and makes sure it is being maintained in safe working order. Informs Foreman or Lead Person immediately of any problems or concerns about equipment.
  • Ensures the metal is spaced on the cooling table properly and keeps the stretcher table full for the saw crew
  • Assists the saw crews when needed to maintain production.
  • Keeps all material and tools out of walkways ensuring good housekeeping practices are being followed.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area and assists with general housekeeping of the press department.
  • Follows company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
  • Must have regular attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

  • High school diploma or eqiuvalent

Experience

  • One or more years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment or in a team environment and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States visa sponsorships are not available

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role level and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills experience and relevant education or training.
