Professional Experience / Qualifications:

10 years of experience in leading data engineering teams for global organization

Handson and demonstrated experience in building strong data pipeline data warehouse data lake data hub solutions

Demonstrated experience in migrating from traditional ETL/Data Warehouse capabilities into modern data and analytics platforms

Strong experience in leading modern cloudbased data platform capabilities i.e. AWS Azure Databricks Snowflake etc.

Strong experience in building and managing team of data architects data engineers data analysts both FTE and Consultants

Great track record in partnering with multiple technology solution providers both onsite and offshore

Excellent leadership team building and management skills including a track record of coaching and mentoring a toptier engineering team

Strong communication skills both written and verbal with ability to communicate or convey results/outcomes to audience at all levels

Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and business environment.

Experience in Insurance Industry is a PLUS. But not a mandatory.

Education

Bachelors degree or Advanced degree or equivalent in MIS Computer Science Data & Analytics or related field.

Position Summary:

The Head of Data Engineering mission is to modernize Allied Worlds data engineering capabilities by building stateoftheart data marketplace where Allied Worlds all critical data and analytics assets effectively and efficiently managed. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and great engineering delivery leader with ability to bring together product leaders technology leaders and partners to:

The Head of Data Engineering will report to SVP Chief Data Officer (CDO) of Allied World.

Delivery Data Solutions What and Why

Consolidates existing technologies find opportunities to optimize current data operations

Define nextgeneration data architecture and design patterns to meet Allied Worlds growing data and analytics needs

Build modern data repository where we can bring in all our critical data assets together

Build efficient data pipeline where we could integrate both internal and external data assets much faster for the analysis

Build strong engineering practices around data Ingestion Organization Analysis and Consumption layers

Partner with other IT products CISO Infrastructure Operations and EA teams and bring them together in ensuring solutions being rolled out are integrated secured data centric and globally supported

Build a High Performing Data Engineering Team by hiring mentoring empowering engineering expertise globally and through technology delivery vendor partnerships.

Well Informed Stakeholders & Users Who

Lead monthly Data Engineering Review with each senior stakeholder and provide transparency on all data engineering initiatives

Influence and motivate the business data and product leads to create a culture of delivery

Partner with Information Security Enterprise Architecture and Platform Engineering teams on all innovation and key technology initiatives to make sure data engineering aspects effectively managed

Grow the Agile Practice at Allied Word How
