DescriptionEngineer Variability Reduction Team (VRT)
Apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. Contain track and analyze contamination issues as well as work with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure resolutions.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:
- Lead site activities related by reduction of contamination risk in the manufacturing process.
- Implement standards and best practices related to contamination.
- Work with Incoming Quality/STA to identify supplier concerns for contamination.
- Work with PD and Plant Resident Engineeringto develop and implement contamination action plans.
- Work with PTME to develop and implement contamination action plans.
- Work with Manufacturing Quality office to understand and implement contamination leading indicator metrics.
- Work with Manufacturing Departmentson potential sources of contamination from review internal (contamination audits vacuums test etc. and external (VO pulls/repairs warranty) inputs.
- Organize site visits and continuous improvement meetings to develop action plans and drive to closure.
- Support offshift problem solving activities.
- Establish washing procedure and processes for production dunnage cleaning monitor effectiveness and adherence.
- Report out process in daily PIC dept Subteam monthly PQR.
- Schedule and organize department GEMBA walks to effectively monitor the closure to open issues.
- Update and post monthly Contamination Health Charts.
- Identify type and size of contamination samples or metallurgical defects.
- Work with external labs as necessary on determining root cause or source of contaminants.
- Ability to coach as necessary both salary and hourly employees.
QualificationsQualifications
- Required
- Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Metallurgy Chemical Engineering or applicable Engineering degree. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).
- 3 Years of Experience
- Preferred / Even better you may have
- Previous automotive and/ or quality analysis experience
- Knowledge of casting metallurgy and process procedures
- Knowledge of Powertrain procedures specifically related to Contamination and Ford Production System (FPS) Principles
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in difficult and stressful situations
- Twoway communicator who actively listens to hourly team members leaders business partners and customers
- Highly committed to continuous improvement while applying innovative solutions with a customer first mindset
- Proficiency in use of problem solving tools (Six Sigma DOE 8D 5 Why etc)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Selfstarter with the ability to be selfdirected in a highvolume fastpaced environment
- Prior experience working with a unionized workforce
