BethuneCookman University Job Title: Religious Life Program Assistant Reporting Structure: Dean of the Chapel Division: Student Affairs Job Summary: Reporting to the Dean of the Chapel the Religious Life Program Assistant (RLPA) works with all Office of Chaplaincy (OC) staff to assist in office operations and carry out all assigned administrative duties and responsibilities. The RLPA is a religious leader who provides spiritual encouragement to faculty staff and students by offering hospitality to all building a foundation for flourishing religious communities educating the University about religious diversity and providing cocurricular experiences that complement and contextualize a faithbased education. The RLPA will work closely with OC staff to address and respond to the religious and spiritual needs of BCU through pastoral care and programmatic support. This position requires multitasking projects and assignments in timesensitive environments while maintaining a positive demeanor to promote teamwork and excellent customer service. Duties/Responsibilities: The RLPA is expected to perform the following tasks: - Provide assistance to support the development and implementation of weekly worship experiences.
- Assist in maintaining programming in the Ann Taylor Green General Studies Building especially Mother Marys Market and the Professional Dress Closet. Supervision of student workers in this space
- Provide OC guests with exceptional customer service
- Assist with the development of opportunities and programs to encourage students growth and awareness in their respective practice of faith
- Recruit new students and encourage retention of members of Religious Life organizations
- Develop and mentor student leaders and facilitate group activities for spiritual social and educational enrichment
- Initiate and nurture relationships with members of the Religious Life Fellowship supporting each person in their spiritual development
- Develop and manage OC marketing plans
- Meet with the Dean of the Chapel weekly and provide updates on Religious Life programming assignments
- Maintain a working knowledge of religious life trends on college and university campuses
- Assist with the development of programs to support local and global mission engagement
- Perform routine clerical work: answer and respond to telephone calls; maintain records; operate office machines; sort and distribute mail; issue keys and identity cards; act as messenger; sort and shelve books; perform data entry; and other related tasks as required.
- All other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Chapel
Required Skills/Abilities/Experience: The RLPA must - Apply effective leadership management and negotiations to everyday challenges

- Preferred Skills Experience and Education:
- Bachelors Degree and/or a minimum of five years of general administrative experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
- 3 years of previous relatable experience is preferred
Physical Requirements: - Working environment is a normal business office setting
- Position will require the candidate to travel at the discretion of the Office of Chaplaincy
- Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity
- Must be mobile throughout the campus
- Position will require some walking standing bending or carrying of items no more than 50 lbs
