CASPA SERVICES LTD POSITION VACANCY Therapeutic Care Worker Darwin NT

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an excellent opportunity for Therapeutic Care Workers with experience working with children young people and families to join CASPAs Residential Care Team in Darwin NT.

Working with the ITRC model you will strive to enhance the lives of young people in our Residential OutofHome Care program incorporating a therapeutic traumainformed approach. You will help create a homelike environment and tailor your support to the individual needs of each young person. You will support young people in attaining their educational goals undertaking extracurricular activities aligned with their interests and supporting their connection to community and family.

Please note: Our Therapeutic Residential Care program runs in a 24/7 roster model. Therefore successful candidates will be required to work various shifts including day shifts night shifts weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Form and maintain professional nurturing relationships with children and young people by building trust through visible interest and active engagement
  • Act as an appropriate adult role model seeking to engage young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and selfworth
  • Support the involvement of family and where applicable facilitate family visits/connections and the promotion of positive family relationships with children and young people to suit individual needs
  • Promote and encourage positive relationships with peers and other persons significant to the child/young person
  • Assist the child/young person to participate as fully as possible in making decisions about the activities undertaken
  • Demonstrate an empathic understanding of complex trauma incorporating this understanding into everyday interactions as well as responding to painbased behaviour in a sensitive and nonpunitive way.

Skills & Experience

  • Either hold or actively work towards a formal qualification in allied health community services or family support. A Certificate IV or higher is required
  • All staff must have a valid NT OCHRE Card
  • All staff must maintain a full current state or territory drivers licence and keep it on hand whenever they drive a CASPA vehicle
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification must be obtained at your own cost
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check Working with Children Check and Child Protection History Check
