Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLE:Elementary Education Teacher REPORTS TO:Director of Special Education and/or Site AdministratorQUALIFICATIONS:BA degree in a related filed or certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education in Elementary Education or ability to of and experience with multiple teaching techniques and methods to modify classroom instruction to meet students work experience and effectiveness with a population that exhibits challenging and understanding of health safety and emergency procedures in a school and competency in Crisis Intervention/Mediation or ability to successfully complete training on : Work jointly with classroom and subject area teachers to provide instruction to students using the Common Core State individualized study plans and IEPs / IEP and other meetings to present students current levels of performance and identify future with educators and other staff to develop structures and procedures that will enable students with challenging behaviors to succeed in school and communityImplement modify and report on those procedures for identified studentsCollect data as needed to monitor efficacy of individual behavioral programsCommunicate expectations and outcomes to students staff and families on a regular basisWork directly with students atrisk to help them develop appropriate behaviors and conflict resolution skillsProvide support to staff and students in the event of a safetyrelated incident including when necessary the use of appropriate physical interventionSupport students in their efforts to complete classroom work and to achieve their annual and longterm academic goalsPerform duties as assigned by the Site Administrator or the Director of Special EducationUpdated 10/15/2024
