Description

The University of Southern Maines English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program invites applications for parttime faculty openings for our Spring and Fall 2025 semesters.

We are seeking studentfocused instructors who will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. Responsibilities include developing the course teaching assessing student performance and meeting with students as needed. The instructor will be provided with the course syllabus learning objectives program competencies and curriculum materials from last years instruction which may be used as needed. The course is taught online asynchronously with the Brightspace learning management tool.

The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)programs are a dynamic energetic learning environment where students from all around the world join in USMs mission to offer an outstanding education that is affordable accessible and of the highest quality. The ESOL programs caring and experienced instructors help you reach your English language and academic goals. Our rigorous courses use the latest teaching techniques and materials. Thanks to our small classes free tutoring and personalized approach our students learn the language skills they need to be successful in their academic majors careers and beyond.

Parttime faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. In addition USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library Cigna Employee Assistance Plan and fitness center(s). USM also offers parttime faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.
