POSITION: ESS Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Success
JOB GOAL:
- Provide comprehensive Speech Language Therapy servicesand supervision in a school setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications to perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required to be successful:
- Valid and current Arizona license for Speech Language Therapy issued by the Arizona State Board of Education
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license issued by the Department of Health Services
- Masters degree or equivalent in Speech PathologyCCCSLP
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
- Ability to work independently

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provides direct speech therapy to a case management load
- Help students with communication disorders in schools.
- Assess diagnose and treat students with speech and language difficulties.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students with communication disorders.
- Collaborate with other school personnel to support student success including teachers and counselors.
- Help students improve their articulation language skills and fluency.
- Use specialized techniques such as playbased therapy to help young students develop communication skills.
- Work with students who have hearing swallowing or cognitive impairments.
- Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Provide guidance and support to families of students with communication challenges.
Evaluation Responsibilities in collaboration with the IEP team:
- Determines the evaluation information to be collected and the methods and instruments to be used.
- Administers assessment tools and data collection procedures related to areas of expertise.
- Analyzes and interprets information gathered in evaluation.
- Synthesizes summarizes and reports information to appropriate individuals.
- Determines the need for reevaluation in collaboration with the IEP team.
Program Planning and Implementation of Interventions:
- Contributes to the IEP process and assists in writing goals and objectives related to specialized instruction.
- Develops and coordinates intervention plans.
- Implements intervention plans directly or in collaboration with others.
- Monitors students progress and modifies plan if necessary.
- Communicates and collaborates with other educational team members.
- Recommend discontinuation of services when warranted.
Documentation of Services:
- Maintains records required by the school and for MIPS billing.
- Updates at least annually IEP goals and objectives and the students current status.
- Maintains the SLP student files.
Supervision:
- Provides supervision for the SLPA in accordance with the SLPAs level of skill and role performance at all sites as assigned.
- Provides functional supervision to coworkers in areas of experience and expertise.
- Assists with the training of staff members in the area of Speech Language Therapy as a related service.
- Supervises students when necessary.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Certified Professional Support calendar plus additional days
- Placement on Related Services salary schedule dependent upon education and experience.

- Must pass Department of Public Safety Fingerprint clearance check.
- Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain.
- All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa (if necessary) will be needed for fingerprint clearance card and I9 documentation prior to first day of work.
EVALUATION:
- Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
- Proof of Mumps Measles and Rubella (MMR) vaccination.
- Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
- Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications official transcripts will be due upon job offer*
* Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation word for word by an acceptable translator. Additionally each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied by the above required documentation will not be considered.
