Nestled in the stunning San Bernardino National Forest we offer a nurturing and funfilled environment for children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities including autism ADHD cerebral palsy epilepsy and Down syndrome.

AbilityFirst is looking for a passionate and experienced Cook to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing nutritionally balanced familystyle meals for our residents and employees. As a Cook you will play a key role in ensuring that our kitchen operations run smoothly and healthily.
What Youll Do
- Meal Preparation & Serving: Receive unpack and store food and supplies; transport food from storage areas to kitchen; bus dishes wash dishes and clean up equipment and kitchen utensils.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean organized and safe kitchen environment at all times.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce strict health and safety standards in the kitchen including dishwashing and cleanliness.
- Inventory Management: Responsible for checking in orders and efficiently organizing supplies.
- Emergency Readiness: Be prepared to take on any necessary roles as directed by the Camp Director in emergencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all campers guests and staff.
Qualifications
Who You Are
- Must be at least 21 years old by the time of hire.
- Two years of institutional cooking experience preferred.
- Holder of a current Food Handlers Permit as mandated by the San Bernardino County Health Department or the ability to pass San Bernardino County Food Safety Card training within two weeks of employment.
- Physical capability to stand for prolonged periods and to perform tasks involving lifting carrying pushing and pulling.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to upholding AbilityFirst rules and policies.
- All potential employees must pass a comprehensive background check and a preemployment physical exam including a drug screen as a condition of employment.

Seasonal; Mondays through Fridays including weekends
