WinstonSalem State University WSSU invites applications for the position of FMT Maintenance Technician within the Department of Housing and Residence Life . This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the functionality safety and comfort of our residential facilities ensuring that students have a highquality living environment that supports their academic success and overall wellbeing. Position Overview: As an FMT Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance and repairs on various systems and building structures within campus housing. This includes plumbing electrical HVAC and other equipment ensuring that all work meets university standards for safety quality and efficiency. You will work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and other team members to provide a safe clean and comfortable living space for students. Key Responsibilities: General Maintenance and Repairs : Perform routine maintenance and respond to emergency repair requests in residential buildings. This includes troubleshooting and fixing plumbing electrical HVAC and general facility issues. Preventive Maintenance : Carry out regular inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems such as HVAC units plumbing electrical systems and appliances. Work Order Management : Receive and respond to work orders from Housing staff and students prioritizing repairs and completing tasks in a timely manner. Safety Compliance : Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure safe working conditions. Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order. Emergency Response : Respond to urgent maintenance issues (e.g. leaks power outages) in a prompt and efficient manner to minimize disruptions for students. Customer Service : Provide excellent customer service by interacting with students and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
Preferred Years Experience Skills Training Education
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a yearforyear basis A diploma or certificate from a recognized trade technical or vocational school with a major in carpentry woodworking or cabinetmaking Required License Or Certification
