Resident Engineer Transit Rail Construction

STV is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee major transit and rail construction projects in Chicago. This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in construction oversight contract administration and stakeholder coordination. As a technical leader in the field you will be responsible for ensuring project quality safety and compliance while keeping construction on schedule and within budget.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Serve as the onsite representative for transit construction projects ensuring work is executed per contract plans specifications and schedules.

• Supervise and mentor field staff engineers and subconsultants assigned to the project.

• Lead construction meetings coordinate with stakeholders and maintain detailed project documentation.

• Oversee quality assurance ensuring work is completed to industry and client standards.

• Review and process RFIs change orders submittals and claims to keep projects running smoothly.

• Monitor and enforce safety and environmental compliance adhering to client and regulatory guidelines.

• Provide technical expertise to resolve field issues and construction challenges.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in Resident Engineering for transit/rail projects.

• Professional Engineers License (PE) in Illinois preferred.

• Strong expertise in reading and interpreting complex contract documents specifications and plans.

• Proficiency in construction management software Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with contractors designers and transit agencies.
