Adult Detention Center Jail Based Team
The Behavioral Health Nurse supports psychiatric providers with medication management administration of psychiatric injections conducting risk evaluations treatment planning linking to community resources and clinical assessment. Case management duties are community and office based and include collaboration with community partners such as human services providers criminal justice system partners and healthcare providers. Must maintain detailed documentation in an Electronic Health Record in accordance with state local federal and licensing expectations.
Work hours mayincludeweekend and evening hours as well as some holidays. A commitment is made to offer scheduling flexibility as program needs allow. This position is 100 onsite.
Position may be underfilled as a BHN Clinician/Case Manager in Residence; the underfill requirements are stated below in the Employment Standards section.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education experience and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in nursing; plus two years of postlicensure experience as a nurse.

Upon completion of an underfill agreement (which will require that the employee meet the employment standards stated above in addition to obtaining competencies and licensures defined by the hiring agency) the employee will be elevated to the level of BHN Clinician/Case Manager.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check a Child Protective Services Registry check a driving record check and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter.
This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move throughout jail to perform crisis intervention staff consultations and to document contact in multiple computer systems. Ability to stand walk carry items while providing direct nursing care of inmates at Adult Detection Center. Ability to communicate with clients and staff in a timely and effective manner observe and report on client appearance mental status medical status and behaviors. Ability to use personal computer provide injectable medications accurately perform tactile and auditory pulse blood pressure and respiratory assessments. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
