Job Description

At The Mission Continues we empower veterans to continue their service and empower communities with veteran talent skills and preparedness to generate visible impact. Were investing in veterans equipping them with the tools and resources to lead a growing veteran volunteer movement. Through networks training and pathways veterans can continue to serve while creating meaningful impact in underresourced communities.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Platoon Operations Managers support our volunteer platoon leaders on the ground across the country. Platoon leaders are the center of our work at The Mission Continues and we are looking for someone who is eager to provide the support and resources that our volunteer leaders need in order to be successful. This individual will work remotely but is required to be located in either Seattle WA Denver or Colorado Springs CO. While there will be platoons in your city you will also manage a cohort of volunteers remotely and will need to build the relationships and tools to ensure that all your volunteers are supported and able to work independently all while maintaining alignment with the values and mission of the organization. Our Regional Operations Managers come from a variety of backgrounds but have one thing in common a passion for service and a desire to build a stronger movement of veteran leaders across the country.
This role is fulltime temporary employment atwill and does not give you rights to a permanent staff position at The Mission Continues. The scheduled end date will be four months following the start date. On or before a month prior to the end date The Mission Continues will evaluate whether to extend terms or transition to permanent employment. As a temporary employee of ours you are eligible and encouraged to compete for ongoing or renewable positions for which you are qualified. What else You will be eligible to join The Mission Continues health benefits plan. Includes full medical dental vison and life insurance coverage and voluntary retirement plan. You will receive paid holiday time off (Memorial Day Juneteenth Independence Day Labor Day etc. but you will not be eligible for paid vacation. Instead you will receive 2 personal days. Your sick time will be prorated from your start date through the end of the term of temporary employment.

In this role you will work closely with the Platoon Operations Team to continuously improve the way we recruit train support and retain our volunteers. You will be a coach to veteran volunteers a resource manager and will be on the front lines of the impact that our veteran leaders are having in communities. In order to be successful this role calls for an administrative and operations professional whos adept at communication collaboration and project management. A team player who is a multitasking expert that enjoys leading projects to completion and providing support to the team. You will need to roll up your sleeves and do the work both on the ground and behind the scenes seize opportunities for process improvement and serve alongside a team of passionate advocates for veteran empowerment.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Provide comprehensive support coaching and guidance to volunteer Platoon Leadership Teams empowering them to orchestrate impactful projects and events that benefit both veterans and communities.
Foster collaboration with other teams to identify shared outcomes and work together to ensure that our platoon leaders are at the center of our work and results in the overall success of the organization. Ensure that stories outcomes and other data are shared in a timely and consistent manner.
Prepare and submit comprehensive accurate informative and timely reports and input into our data management system facilitating efficient tracking and analysis of project outcomes and community impact. Respond promptly to emergency requests for information.
Share best practices and implement effective processes focused on volunteer recruitment and engagement a positive volunteer experience volunteer retention and building a pipeline of platoon leaders to continue the meaningful work in communities.
Provide guidance support and feedback on volunteer engagement and management building community partnerships and project planning and .
Support and inform the training of leaders evaluation of the platoon program and implement tools and processes designed to support a consistent and positive platoon leadership experience across your portfolio of platoon leaders.
Assist and support Platoon Leadership Teams with community partnerships.
Manage Platoon Leadership Team budgets.
Build and maintain a productive working relationship with Platoon Leadership Teams. Communicate effectively on TMCs behalf in handling first line grievance activity. Work proactively to avoid or minimize grievance activity by training and developing the skills of Platoon Leaders ensuring their ability to develop positive environments within each platoon.
Assist the other Regional Managers or the Director Regional Operations with special projects and assignments and take on any other responsibilities not specifically identified above on an as needed basis.

ADAPTIBILITY: You tackle challenges and unfamiliar scenarios headon with a solutionsoriented flexible and curious approach. You are willing to try new things and actively seek to understand multiple perspectives.
TEAMWORK & COLLABORATION: You value many voices are comfortable creating space for dialogue and handle interpersonal issues constructively. You inspire and foster commitment connection enthusiasm and trust and motivate others to achieve common goals.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with database operations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Spanish language skills are a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Military service a plus
Experience in communityfacing organizations a plus
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to travel locally to support coaching opportunities and service in your community. National training and events can be expected to require 27 days in cities across the country and are based on team and staffing needs. Multiday and/or weekend travel will be required for program event dates flex time is available.

During events employees are expected to be able to move around a job site and carry up to 50lbs.
