Burr and Burton Academy seeks a fulltime special educator beginning August 2025. Candidates must have experience supporting students with social cognition behavioral and social emotional needs and experience in planning leading and managing IEP meetings. Necessary qualities include a strong instructional background in basic skill areas effective communication initiative knowledge of special education regulations and the ability to complete and interpret evaluations and IEPs. Responsibilities include collaborating with agencies that prepare students to pursue independent living and work opportunities and facilitating related transition activities. A calm supportive demeanor and willingness to work as a collaborative team member with educators families and outside agencies is required as is current Vermont certification in special education. Preferred candidates have a familiarity with MTSS (Multitiered System of Supports) are competent in data collection technology integration and progress monitoring and have the ability to motivate and engage students.
