Position Summary: To fulfill the mission of Legacy Christian Academy through the Legacy Learning Center diagnostic evaluation and admissions testing within a Biblical Worldview. Work with Senior Director of Student Services as well as admissions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

With respect to Diagnostic Services for students the Diagnostician will:

Play a crucial role in supporting student admissions and assessments. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Admissions Testing: Administer standardized assessments for students in PK3 through 6th grade including the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISCV) Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) and the Bracken School Readiness Assessment among other tests selected by the admissions committee.
  • Engaging with Families: Greet prospective families with professionalism and kindness ensuring a welcoming experience.
  • Providing Informed Feedback: Offer insights on students and families to the admissions committee to support decisionmaking.
  • Completing Deferred Assessments: Conduct admissions testing for students who were initially too young at the time of admission.
  • Evaluating Diagnostic Tools: Potentially serve on a committee to assess and help identify a students learning difference. This may include but is not limited to administering or evaluating the data from:
    • Cognitive and Achievement Tests: WISCV Wechsler Individual Achievement Test III (WIATIII) Test of Word Reading Efficiency Fluency Portion of the WoodcockJohnson Achievement Test III Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing2 (CTOPP2.
    • Behavioral and Attention Assessments: Behavior Assessment System2 (BASC2 Integrated Visual and Auditory Continuous Performance Test2 (IVA CPT2 Brown ADD Scales Barsch Learning Style Inventory.
    • Dyslexia and Learning Disability Screenings: Gray Oral Reading Test5 (GORT5 Woodcock Reading Mastery Test (WRMT) Test of Written Spelling (TWS) Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test2 (KBIT2 OWLSII Comprehensive Form A WoodcockJohnson IV Complete Battery Plus.

With respect to the Faculty and Staff the Diagnostician will:

  • Counsels and assists teachers toward the goal of academic success for all students.
  • Informs and assists teachers in their role in training and educating students.

With respect to the Senior Director of Student Services the Diagnostician will:

  • Reports to and is directly supervised by the Senior Director of Student Services
  • Meets with the Senior Director of Student Services regularly
  • Assists the Senior Director of Student Services with administrative responsibilities as needed
  • Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Senior Director of Students Services

Education/Experience:

Masters Degree with Diagnostician Certification

Language Ability:

Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral expression; ability to relate effectively with trustees school personnel parents students and other school constituent groups and individuals Read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of students and staff.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of school management software; and basic office software.
