Job Description

This position is for theschool year. Salary is based on the adopted salary schedule for the 2425 school year at this time (starting salary $44200. We accept all previous years in certificated teaching roles as steps on the salary schedule. The Fort Osage School District prioritizes a highly competitive salary schedule with additional benefits including optional fully paid health insurance career ladder stipends (up to $5000 extra duty stipend opportunities and more. New teachers mentor program available for all first and second year teachers.

This position is assigned to Elm Grove Elementary School but also works in collaboration with District Office Educational Services Team and other Instructional Coaches.

Must hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education.

Previous experience as an elementary teacher required.

Purpose Statement

The job of Instructional Coachis done for the purpose/s of supporting the instructional program withspecific responsibilities for assisting and supporting school personnel in the design development andalignment of standard based curricula and instructional strategies in core curricular areas; providinginformation and serving as a resource to others; coordinating professional development opportunities;mentoring 1st and 2nd year teachers; and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with others (e.g. teachers administrators Title I staff etc. for the purpose of implementingand maintaining services and/or programs.
  • Compiles data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of analyzing issues preparing reports andconveying information.
  • Coordinates program components support needs and materials (e.g. conference travel for professionaldevelopment District assessments curriculum development textbook adoptions etc. for the purpose ofdelivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Demonstrates and discusses pedagogical approaches that engage learners in the classroom ( lessons modeling etc. for the purpose of modeling instruction for teachers and otherpersonnel.
  • Facilitates meetings workshops seminars etc. (e.g. curriculum meetings assessment analysis textbookadoptions academic success plans etc. for the purpose of identifying issues and developingrecommendations.
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. MAP scores etc. for the purpose ofproviding uptodate reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities and conveying information.
  • Provides ongoing support to teachers (e.g. curriculum content teaching methods collects classroom datafor teach reflection etc. for the purpose of providing information making recommendations and ordeveloping plans for improving curriculum and/or instructional practices.
  • Researches a variety of topics (e.g. current best practices instructional material conferences etc. for thepurpose of gathering and/or disseminating information.
  • Responds to inquiries from staff teachers and administrators for the purpose of providing informationand/or direction as may be required.
  • Works with individual and groups of students for the purpose of supporting in achieving student successgoals.

Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioningof the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meetchanging job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the jobinclude: utilizing conflict resolution techniques; operating standard office equipment including pertinent softwareapplications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records; analyzing data;applying curriculum and instructional techniques; comparing results; and facilitating meetings.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information compose a variety ofdocuments and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge basedcompetencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: assessment instruments andtechniques; methods of instruction and training; concepts of grammar and punctuation; and district policies andprocedures.

ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities meetings and/or events; routinely gather collateand/or classify data; and use basic jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety ofcircumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize jobrelated equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with datarequires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability basedcompetencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities;communicating with diverse groups; setting priorities; building collaborative relationships; working with constantinterruptions; and meeting deadlines and schedules.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leadingguiding and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobsfunctions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: somelifting carrying pushing and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50 sitting25 walking and 25 standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazardfree environment.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.

Education: Bachelors degree in jobrelated area.
