POSITION: Certified ESA Speech Language Pathologist 2 positions to fill
One Full time Position and One Part Time
LOCATION: District In Person On Site
REPORTS TO: Special Programs Director
JOB SUMMARY: Speech Language Pathologists conduct evaluations to determine eligibility of students for speech and language services and provide those services to eligible students. In person On site. One position is full time at 1.0 fte 7 hours per day for 180 days. The second position is part time for the 180 days school year. Hours to vary depending on availability of the applicant. Part time salary will depend on FTE of the part time position salary in this posting is for the full time position.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participate as a team member with responsibility for the identification eligibility and placement of speech and language impaired students.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students and to meet individual student needs.
- Participates in staff meetings planning events department/special education meetings manifestation determination meetings FBA/BIP meetings and eligibility evaluation and placement meetings.
- Communicate with other professionals providing services for students to insure continuity and coordination of program.
- Work directly with students to implement IEP goals and objectives.
- Develop therapy schedules and provide speech language pathology (SLP) services for students with speech and language impairments from preschool through 12th grade in accordance with their IEP.
- Evaluate implement and monitor augmentative communication devices for appropriate students including devices for deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals using state standards subject matter content and district curriculum.
- Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement.
- Foster and manage a safe positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement and meeting special education laws and policies.
- Participate in and facilitate various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs and to meet laws and policies. Meetings may include school and department manifestation determination eligibility evaluation and placement.
- Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by State and Federal regulations and district policy.
- Direct the work of assigned classified staff.
- Implement and comply with District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
- Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
- Fulfill other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to address a variety of speech/language deficits.
- Current knowledge of assistive technology.
- Knowledge of applicable Washington State and federal rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of subject matter/course content relevant to assignment.
- Knowledge and understanding of child development.
- Ability to effectively meet developmental needs of students.
- Ability to assess and evaluate student progress and achievement.
- Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices.
- Knowledge and skill in designing and conducting specialized instruction remediation and evaluation.
- Ability to adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness.
- Skills and abilities in organization time management and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents students staff and administrators.
- Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with a variety of constituents.
- Ability to operate technology devices and specific software programs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability and commitment to strengthen jobrelated competencies.
EDUCATION:
- Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as a School Speech Language Pathologist
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Successful and recent experience as a speech language pathologist in a school setting
- Student cultural and economic diversity experience preferred
