Description
- Develops and implements music instruction designed to promote effective student learning and to enhance student creativity.
- Promote the educational growth of students commensurate with student ability as described in individualized educational plans (IEP).
- Assesses student music progress and encourages and guides individual student growth in music throughout the school year.
- Ability to relate to culturally diverse students desired.
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Teacher of Music Certification and/or other such appropriate certificate as required by the State of New Jersey Board of Examiners.
- Highly developed skills in:
- Assessing students musical needs through teaching and observations.
- Translating diagnostic data into appropriate instructional plans.
- Ability to use internal and external resources creatively.
- Communicating effectively with students parents and staff.
- Developing and implementing music instruction designed to promote positive adjustment and effective student learning in school.
- Willingness to work with students with diverse needs.
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Possess the physical and mental capacity to perform major job responsibilities including but not limited to the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Physical Requirements
The employee must demonstrate physical strength agility and energy to perform essential job functions and to ensure health welfare and safety of all students and of self. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the employee to perform the essential functions of the job: sitting standing reaching walking lifting bending crouching kneeling climbing pushing pulling finger dexterity carrying repetitive motions speaking listening and visual acuity. The employee must lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds.

- Following the established MCSSETA Salary Guide Step 1 $75663
Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
Must be NJ resident within one year from date of hire
