POSITION OVERVIEW
Charlotte Country Day School seeks an experienced academic coach to support 9thgrade students in their transition to upper school. This role goes beyond traditional tutoring. It is not about reteaching content but helping students develop the executive functioning skills study habits and selfregulation strategies needed for success.
An effective coach will empower students to take ownership of their learning by focusing on organization time management study skills and problemsolving approaches within their coursework. Coaches must balance guidance with fostering independence ensuring students develop the skills to succeed on their own.
Successful candidates have experience in education special education instructional coaching counseling or academic strategy support with a focus on executive functioning study skills and fostering independent learning rather than reteaching content. They should have a strong understanding of organization time management selfregulation and metacognitive coaching particularly in supporting students transitioning to upper school. This role is ideal for educators who enjoy mentoring students building their autonomy and guiding them toward academic independence.
