MacArthur Recruitment is seeking a Production Manager to join a successful manufacturing business based in NorthWest Cumbria they are a leader in their field having undergone a recent period of investment and change and with low staff turnover and a range of other benefits very much an employer of choice in the region making this an exciting time to join the business.
Reporting to the Factory Manager the main purpose of the role is to develop and direct the manufacturing and distribution function of the factory; ensuring the safe timely and efficient production and distribution of highquality products at the best possible cost.
Person Specification for the role of Production Manager:
A people person excellent interpersonal and employee engagement/management skills are key for this role (a lot of the detail can be learnt in role)
Experience in a production/management environment
Able to build and develop a team
Keen and able to be hands on and get involved on the factory floor
Selfmotivated with the ability to problemsolve solutions oriented
Knowledge of lean manufacturing best practice safety 6S quality audits and Continuous Improvement (CI) or willing to learn
Strong IT skills
Experience of managing change (people process culture)
Principal Accountabilities for the role of Production Manager:
People
o Development of key staff; performance reviews and training
o Managing staffing requirements
o Coaching and developing staff to ensure safety quality productivity and timely delivery
o Staff recruitment and development
o Staff counselling and discipline where necessary.
Liaising with department leaders
o Resolving schedule completion issues
o Daily quality checks (working with QA Team)
o Liaison with raw materials and warehousing teams
o Attend planning meetings.
Running production schedules
o Dealing with any raw material issues
o Organising overtime and TILE / TILT with department leaders
o Liaison with factory manager on capacity.
Materials and equipment
o Minimising defects and therefore returns
o Minimising waste and loss managing inventory surplus
o Ensuring highstandard maintenance of equipment at the best cost.
Systems and Lean manufacturing
o Involvement in safety 6S and quality audits (both internal and external)
o KPI reporting
o Assisting with monthly reports
o Collaborate to analyse results
o Proactively seek improvements Continuous Improvement (CI).
