Job Description:

The Community Oncology Liaison will play a key role in a research project funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society facilitating referrals to UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC) and enhancing the participation of patients at community clinics in UFHCC cancer clinical trials (CCTs). This position will serve as a critical liaison between UF and participating community clinics working closely with clinic staff both virtually and in person to streamline processes alleviate the workload of healthcare providers and improve patient access to clinical trials.

The Community Oncology Liaison will be tasked with ensuring seamless communication between community physicians UFHCC and patients as well as facilitating patient screening referral processes and engagement in clinical trials.

Additionally the role involves planning promoting and facilitating educational webinars where UF Principal Investigators (PIs) can discuss open CCTs with community stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical trial referral processes as well as exceptional organizational communication and interpersonal skills.

More About This Role

Operational Support & Procedure Development

  • Lead the development implementation and modification of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize clinical trial referral processes.
  • Establish protocols for efficient followup communication between community oncologists and UFHCC.
  • Identify operational barriers to clinical trial referrals and collaborate on process improvements.


Patient Screening Support

  • Assist participating community clinics in adopting and implementing best practices for patient screening.
  • Serve as the primary resource for community clinic staff in understanding eligibility criteria and referral procedures.
  • Provide both virtual and inperson support to facilitate patient screening efforts.


Clinical Trial Awareness & Communication

  • Regularly update community clinics on available UFHCC cancer clinical trials highlighting eligibility requirements benefits and enrollment processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for community clinic staff regarding clinical trial inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain communication strategies to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information.


Referral & Liaison Services

  • Serve as a liaison between community clinics patients and UFHCC to ensure a seamless referral process for clinical trials and specialty care.
  • Develop and implement processes to facilitate efficient referrals including ensuring proper exchange of medical records and prescreening documentation before patient visits to UF.
  • Assist community clinics in prescreening patients prior to their arrival when possible.


Educational Webinars & Outreach

  • Plan promote and facilitate educational webinars featuring UF Principal Investigators (PIs) to discuss open CCTs.
  • Develop outreach initiatives to increase awareness and engagement in clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with UFHCC leadership and external partners to enhance participation in educational and research initiatives.

Expected Salary:

$70000 $85000; commensurate based on education and experience

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid drivers license and a reliable automobile.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cancer clinical trial screening and patient referral processes.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups including healthcare professionals patients and administrative staff.
  • Strong understanding of clinical operations particularly in oncology and clinical trial settings.
  • Experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with patient care coordination and referral systems in healthcare settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patientcentered approach.
  • Selfmotivated and proactive with problemsolving and strategic thinking abilities.
