About the unit

1E is a 20 bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital. Nurses enjoy working on 1E as you are able to become an expert in so many areas since we care for a wide variety of diagnosis. Some of the patients we care for are those with Respiratory illnesses Acute Kidney Injuries DKA Septic Shock and many more. We also have a surgical population of Mastectomy patients and Thyroidectomy patients. In addition to some of the above stated items 1E also uses Endotool which is our continuous insulin drip program and utilizes cardiac drips. Teamwork is vital within our unit and the staff work to ensure sound communication with the whole care team.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidencebased practice and research quality of practice professional practice evaluation resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Associates in Nursing Required

  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years

  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
