Position Overview
Ivy Tech Community College invites applications for a fulltime teaching position in Fine Arts. The ideal candidate will have a background in foundation level visual art instruction with a strong focus in threedimensional design applications and a background in arts administration or management. They will be wellversed in contemporary and historic art and design practices. A strong desire to help students explore and grow their skills as artists and designers in traditional and contemporary art mediums is expected. An understanding of creative entrepreneurship and business practices appropriate to visual arts is desirable. Candidates must be willing to work within a learning community that is diverse and welcoming.
General Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Program Chair to develop and manage internal and external projects and programs.
- Teach a 4/4 course load 24 credit hours per academic year) in Fine Arts focusing on foundational and 3D design courses.
- Mentor and support adjunct faculty parttime assistants and workstudy students.
- Engage in recruitment and retention activities to promote the program.
- Maintain an active professional art practice including creating and exhibiting work.
- Serve on college and departmental committees.
- Advise the campus Art Club and support studentled initiatives.
- Support program initiatives such as gallery exhibitions community outreach and special events.
Key Duties
Instruction
- Deliver highquality instruction aligned with course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Develop and maintain engaging course materials including syllabi lesson plans and assignments.
- Foster a safe and collaborative learning environment ensuring proper use and maintenance of studio spaces tools and equipment.
Professional Development
- Participate in ongoing professional development such as workshops conferences and training to remain current in 3D design and fine arts practices.
Community Engagement
- Represent the college through community events exhibitions and partnerships to strengthen ties with local arts organizations and stakeholders.
- Develop community/industry contacts
Institutional Support
- Contribute to curriculum development and accreditation processes.
- Participate in collegewide events such as commencement and faculty meetings.
- Assist in program management activities including ordering supplies and managing studio and gallery spaces.
Advising and Mentorship
- Provide academic advising to Fine Arts students and support them in developing their professional and creative goals.

Required Qualifications
- Possesses an earned bachelor or higher degree in fine arts or related field from a regionally accredited institution; preferred to have a Master of Fine Arts or Master of Arts in Fine Arts Studio; and
- Two of the following:
- A portfolio demonstrating significant involvement as a practicing artist or designer.
- Professional certification in the field.
- At least three years of directly related work and exhibition experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or Master of Arts in Fine Arts Studio.
- Collegelevel teaching experience in visual arts with a focus on 3D art and design.
- Proven arts administrative experience including program coordination and development event organization gallery management etc.
- Expertise in 3D processes materials and tools.
- Proficiency in current technologies and software relevant to fine arts instruction such as Adobe Creative Suite 3D modeling software and audio/video tools.
