Job Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for delivering technology driven business solutions within the reserving team. This includes both maintenance and development of existing reserving products and also leading the implementation of future initiatives.

The role is largely project based and will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business to design develop and implement solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for consultation design system implementation and ongoing management validation and reporting of technical solutions (e.g. Stochastic Reserve Risk Technical Provisions).

  • Develops maintains and supports the processes necessary to establish the reserves and other related values.

  • Lead projectbased work to develop and innovate reserving team products models and Management Information.

  • Conducts research to modify and improve reserving methodologies.

  • Utilize strong data manipulation skills to structure analyse and interpret RenRes wealth of data.

  • Understand and work with (often complex) reinsurance products.

  • Facilitate communication between technical specialists (e.g. IT developers) and business users (e.g. underwriting finance investments).

  • Engage with external counterparties including consultants and auditors.

  • Respond to questions and provides training for individuals in the team and external auditors and actuaries where required on our processes systems and technologies.

  • Maintains a high level of expertise and product knowledge to serve as a resource for clients and staff.

  • Maintains ongoing selfdirected professional development and study and assists in the development of others.

  • Complete ad hoc assignments as needed.

Qualifications Skills Experience:

A university/college degree in a quantitative discipline such as actuarial science finance science economics or engineering

Actuarial designation (FCAS/FIA designation)

Must have at least 8 years of professional actuarial (P&C) experience with at least 2 years of reinsurance.

Must have an extensive knowledge ofloss reserving and forecasting techniques

Must have solid understanding of accounting and financial concepts and their impact on re/insurance.

Experience in the regulatory environment specific to the location of the role.

Strong knowledge of the latest and most widely accepted and used actuarial reserving techniques for (re)insurance liabilities.

Exceptional communication skills. Comfortable collaborating with stakeholders with varying backgrounds/specialisms across the business.

Strong background in data manipulation and analysis.

Proficient core programming skills ideally fluent in SQL and one other general programming language (Python VBA).

Fluency with core software packages used in reserving (e.g. ResQ PowerBI)

Strategic mindset with a clear vision for future initiatives.
