You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailCGI is offering a fulltime opportunity for Senior Legal CounselEmployment in our Canadian legal team to support our Canadian business. The position will report directly to the Canadian General Counsel. This role will provide daily legal counsel on employmentrelated matters with the purpose of managing employmentrelated risk minimizing legal exposure supporting compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations and facilitating CGIs ability to maintain a positive work environment that aligns with CGIs values and ethical code.

The role offers the opportunity to interact with senior leaders in the Canadian company as well as with colleagues across our global company.
Location: Montreal Quebec
Provide daytoday multiprovince legal counseling and guidance to Human Resources managers and key business stakeholders on a diverse range of employment legal issues including but not limited to employee relations performance management disciplinary matters employment claims human rights health and safety and other areas under applicable legislation regulations and policies
Lead direct or provide assistance with internal employmentrelated investigations
Interpret laws and regulations research key legal questions and maintain a current indepth knowledge with respect to all applicable employment laws regulations and industry guidance in order to provide related guidance
Assist in developing revising and implementing employment agreements policies and procedures to ensure Canadawide regulatory compliance as well as assist in creating customized internal trainings
Assist in driving compliance with employment laws as well as with CGIs standards of ethics and business conduct
Coordinate efficiently litigation files and legal services performed by CGIs external legal counsel in Canada
As assigned and needed assist with advising other teams such as Compensation Immigration Benefits Security and Privacy
As assigned and needed assist with other relevant duties such as supporting M&A diligence and global investigations
Mentor and oversee the work of a more junior employment lawyer
Law degree from a recognized law school and a member in good standing of a Canadian provincial bar association
At least 10 years employment law experience gained at a reputable national law firm and/or inhouse is required
As a lead for employment law in all jurisdictions in Canada (common and civil law) an advanced knowledge of both French and English is required
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Experience advising or working in a large technology consulting or other professional services company is a plus
Experience with litigation related to employment law is preferred and familiarity with privacy laws is a plus
Experience in matters related to the Charter of the French Language is a plus
Excellent organizational problemsolving and analytical skills with the ability to convey complex information into distilled critical information and insight
Demonstrated leadership skills and mentoring
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to work independently with limited required direction
Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization a demonstrated strong team player and a good sense of humor
Ability to show initiative and to manage multiple projects simultaneously with demonstrated followthrough and timely tracking to deadlines
Ability to be flexible and agile and to maintain a professional and genuine can do attitude in response to challenging situations and changing priorities
