Collegiate School seeks an energetic experienced and committed Kindergarten teacher to inspire students love of learning. This is a fulltime benefited faculty position reporting directly to the Head of Lower School.
General responsibilities include:
Establish a climate of respect for each child as an individual and as a member of a classroom community; utilize Responsive Classroom practices
Understand developmental benchmarks and support social emotional learning as a primary area of student growth
Maintain a safe healthy and inviting learning space
Design and deliver instruction using wellplanned lessons based on essential learning and skills; employ appropriate technology and learning tools
Utilize a structured literacy approach
Facilitate learning for each of the five pillars of reading
Facilitate and guide learning based on a working knowledge of these curricula:
IMSE for phonics and spelling Heggertys
Everyday Math
Use data to facilitate differentiated small groups
Regularly assess student progress and maintain accurate and comprehensive records
Collaborate with other teachers to create a joyful and inclusive school environment
Work in partnership with parents to develop each students skills and confidence as a learner; communicate each students growth throughout the year
Identify and pursue professional opportunities that enhance and extend ones teaching
Serve on committees and engage in professional group work
Participate in all required School functions
Supervise lunch recess and carpool as required
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
A Masters degree or Virginia teaching certification in Elementary Education is preferred
A minimum of 3 years experience working with elementary age students
Ability to meet the needs of diverse learners
Evidence of creativity and passion in classroom instruction
Proven cross cultural competency skills demonstrating selfawareness awareness of others and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives attitudes and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging in the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community.
Ability to inspire students inquisitive thinking and responsible citizenship
Enthusiasm for professional growth
