Curriculum & Program Developer for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Paramedicine Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Program

Salary:$75.00 per hour

Classification:Part Time Hourly

This position reports to:The Dean of Nursing & Allied Health

The purpose of a Curriculum and Program Developer for an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Medicine Services (EMS) Paramedicine is to support the development of an EMS Paramedicine Program at Olympic College. The Curriculum and Program Developer in EMS Paramedicine position will outline curriculum requirements set by standards of practice from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Development of new healthcare programs supports the colleges mission by establishing quality educational pathways for diverse communities of students interested in healthcare careers. Olympic College seeks faculty who are dedicated to studentcentered learning and to fostering an equitable and inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of employing culturally responsive pedagogy utilizing disaggregated data to guide instruction and teaching and mentoring minoritized student populations. Olympic College enrolls a racially and socioeconomically diverse student body of approximately 10500 students annually. Among them 4 are African American 5 Latinx 1 are Native American/Alaska Native 1 are Pacific Islander 7 are Asian 62 are White and 15 are multiracial. A comprehensive community college we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma GED preparation and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees and community education in our twocounty region.

Essential Functions

  • Develop curriculum for an Associate of Applied Science in EMS Paramedicine Degree for an EMS Paramedic Program to include an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) pathway
  • Support program development by outlining program requirements establishing end of program goals timelines for program completion and facilitating accreditation requirements. In compliance with industry standards of practice as it relates to curriculum and program planning.
  • Create modify and vet courses that provide both theoretical and practical knowledge in key areas such as patient assessment trauma care airway management pharmacology and advanced life support.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with key community EMS leaders for input in curriculum and program design.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree in emergency medical services (EMS) or a related field e.g. Registered Nurse from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 year of relevant clinical experience either in an Emergency Medical ServicesParamedic staff role or Registered Nurse EMS/Critical Care Transport role or an instructor/director in a Paramedic Education Program or a combination of both with the past ten years
  • Knowledge of industry standards of practice and regulation in EMS CAAHEP and CoAEMSP Programs
  • A graduate of an education program in s Paramedic Program or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • Possess a credential in the field of Emergency Medical Services Paramedicine Trauma and/or Critical Care through a national certification association that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies
  • Strong knowledge of national EMS protocols practices and regulatory landscape
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development instructional design or teaching adult learners.
  • Familiarity with eLearning platforms and tools for online course content development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts in an engaging clear manner.


Preferred Qualification

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Experience in curriculum design evaluation and program planning.
  • Experience with learning management systems

Additional Information

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position.Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

Hourly employees must work480 hoursin a rolling sixmonth period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work70 hoursin any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement.This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week with an hourly rate of$75.They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
