GFL is looking for a FullTime Chemical Technician for the afternoon shift to help support our operations in Hamilton ON. As a Chemical Technician your primary role is to sort and repack chemical hazardous waste within the facility. This position report to the Operations Supervisor and is represented by the Teamsters Local Union No. 879.
Key Responsibilities
- Classify test (i.e. oxidation or pH) and determine chemical groups collected through our household hazardous and industrial waste collection programs
- Bulk inorganic and organic materials for shipment
- Sort and bulk pesticides for shipment
- Conduct inventory counts label and prepare containers for shipment
- Work safely at all times by adhering to company policies rules and procedures regarding health and safety
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills Competencies
- Successful completion of a University or College program with a focus on Chemistry or equivalent industry experience
- Previous experience working in an industrial setting is preferred
- Valid G class Drivers license is an asset
- Previous forklift experience is also considered an asset but is not required
