Job Description

The University of Denver is a mediumsize 12000 students) private university located in a thriving metropolis at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is comprised of five departments: Biological Sciences Chemistry and Biochemistry Geography and the Environment Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy. The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Denver has a oneyear opportunity for a Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor position (nontenure track) for the academic yearbeginning September 1 2025. The position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate biology courses for nonscience majors as well as majors courses that could include evolutionary biology & biodiversity or biostatistics. The duties include teaching six courses per year (quarter system).

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree from a life science discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching and developing college level biology curriculum especially for nonscience majors.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to use a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to sit or stand in front of a classroom for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus

Work Schedule

While the Universitys administrative offices are open Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught service commitments and research agendas. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $60000 $65000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
