Job Description

Course Developer Duties:
  • Design assigned course content for the HOPE masters degree in collaboration with the program director program faculty and instructional designers. The work should meet KU standards for competencybased education and all requirements for credit bearing offerings.
    • Write content competencies.
    • Select learning materials for student use.
    • Write assessments for student use
    • Design and review course management modules to deliver the curriculum to the student.
    • Adapt curriculum and assessments in response to feedback from the HOPE program director other faculty and instructional designer.
    • Meet time deadlines for development as defined by the program director
    • Attend curriculum meetings.
    • Adhere to departmental college and university policies.
Instructor Duties: Teach credit courses or competencies in HOPE content areas.
  • Coursebased teaching responsibilities include curriculum development instructional design classroom management grading and teaching improvement in relation to student and colleague feedback.
  • Competencybased instruction provides regular and substantive interaction that empowers students to acquire the skills and knowledge needed for success in human organizational performance. This role includes but is not limited to facultyinitiated communication with students; weekly office hours; providing feedback to students on assessments monitoring student progress and providing outreach as needed to support success as well as timely responses to student inquiries.
  • Instructors are responsible for keeping the curriculum uptodate and engaging with external organizations to ensure relevance to a variety of workplace needs.
  • Instructors are responsible for adherence to program School and University policies.

Position Overview
The Human and Organizational Performance Effectiveness (HOPE) masters degree is seeking parttime lecturers to develop and/or teach courses or competencies. This program is being developed by the School of Professional Studies at the University of Kansas to be offered beginning fall semester 2025. The degree will be offered with regular inperson hybrid and online classes and also in a competencybased version (to begin in Fall 2026. We seek content experts to develop curriculum for the degree and to participate in teaching and assessment activities. Curriculum areas include employee motivation employee onboarding employee selection instructional design learning and development organizational communication organizational effectiveness organizational change organizational performance management and metrics organizational systems resources allocation and strategic planning. This position serves the educational needs of a JCERT program. Specific percentages of effort for JCERT are determined each year.
