Athletic Trainer for USD #480
Reports to: Activities Director(s) Medical Supervisor(s) Building Administration
Job Goal:To provide a safe training environment for athletes to limit the extent of preventable injuries and to be prepared to deal with any injury or illness until appropriate medical personnel arrive
Position Title: Certified Athletic Trainer
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher in an area relating to the athletic training profession
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
Licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA)
Maintains Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for NATABOC Certification and KSBHA License
Maintains certification in First Aid and CPR with AED Professional Rescuer equivalent
Performance Responsibilities
Physical demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands/fingers to handle objects tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Employee must have sufficient endurance to sustain the physical demands of the job.
The employee must frequently be able to generate the force to maneuver up to 100 pounds. Assistance with lifting patients will be provided. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and 1015 pounds from waist to overhead with safe body mechanics. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Attend all varsity football games
Attend all home freshmen/junior varsity football games
Attend all home varsity basketball games
Attend substate and regional competitions held in Liberal
Attend all home varsity baseball cross country soccer softball track volleyball and wrestling events and assist when needed in sub varsity contests.
Attend road events where an athletic trainer may be needed for competition.
The role of the certified/licensed athletic trainer is to provide the most cost effective and comprehensive means of prevention assessment treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries incurred during participation of USD #480 athletic programs designated by the Activities Director(s). In addition the ATC understands the professional responsibility to provide educational programs to the athletes coaches athletic training student aides administrators and community members interested in the benefit in the physical fitness the importance of First Aid and CPR with AED training and the pursuit of further medical information.
