RadioCanada News & Current Affairs is looking for a Reporter/Presenter. In this role you will present regional national and international newscasts headlines news flashes and news specials as well as conduct interviews per corporate standards and policies.
Main responsibilities:
Keep up with international national and regional news stories through various sources.
Attend story meetings: discuss story ideas and present your opinions.
Write and edit copy (intros briefs headlines etc. ensuring factual accuracy and language quality.
Review research greens. Alone or with others select guests and determine interview plans. Conduct interviews.
Depending on the assignment research select and vet stories for news flashes determining the order of broadcast.
Prepare live hits with reporters.
Present and read news headlines and bulletins. Conduct live interviews. Host news specials with an eye to engaging audiences and helping viewers explore and understand stories.
Make the appropriate announcements when a problem occurs on air and ensure the continuity of the newscast or program. Promote distinctive content produced by the news team and tease upcoming broadcasts on ICI RDI as needed.
Develop and maintain a network of sources.
Inform newsroom management of any event that warrants a news flash or special coverage.
Depending on the program mandate produce news stories: suggest coverage angles conduct interviews select clips write copy and submit it for vetting and record narration. Supervise editing as needed. Perform basic editing tasks for radio.
Occasionally participate in public events at the Corporations request (season previews open houses talks and symposiums).
Carry out all other related tasks as needed.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent
Five 5 years journalism experience or equivalent
Skills:
Extensive general knowledge
Excellent knowledge of current events
Solid command of French (working language)
Knowledge of English an asset
Strong TV/radio storytelling and interviewing skills
Knowledge of CBC/RadioCanadas Journalistic Standards and Practices
