Essential Functions:
- Facilitate communication between patients and providers during care.
- Prepare patients for visits including rooming obtaining vitals and preparing supplies for procedures.
- Assist in the application and removal of casts staples and sutures.
- Maintain exam room standards ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking.
- Monitor biohazard and sharps containers.
- Support providers in preparing patient prescriptions and completing necessary forms.
- Respond to voicemails within 24 business hours and document actions in the EMR system.
- Prepare electronic charts ahead of service dates.
- Perform laboratory tests as needed and manage medical supply inventory.
- Ensure outstanding test results are recorded and confirm patient appropriateness for visits.
- Educate patients on medical treatments and therapies as directed by providers.
- Create a positive patient experience while maintaining a HIPAAcompliant environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required; graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- 12 years of experience preferred.
- Must pass the MA competency exam within the first 24 months of employment.
- At least one active certification (e.g. RMA CMA CCMA NCMA) required within the first 24 months.
- BLS certification preferred.
- Familiarity with medical office procedures insurance EMR and scheduling software.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality HIPAA regulations and medical records procedures.
- Strong computer skills and ability to work with medical software.
- Excellent planning prioritization and task completion skills.
- Compassionate approach when interacting with patients and their families.
