TheSLPwill assess diagnose and provide evidencebased treatment for clients with speech language and communication disorders. Services may be delivered in aclinic or schoolbased depending on the needs of the clientele. What will my daytoday responsibilities look like
In this position you will be working hands on with our clients to provide guidance and suggestions to empower their learning. You will do this by:
  • Assess & Treat: Administer ageappropriate screenings and assessments to develop individualized therapy goals.
  • Use EvidenceBased Techniques: Implement interventions for speech intelligibility articulation oral motor skills feeding disorders expressive and receptive language augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) fluency/stuttering voice disorders pragmatic skills and literacy.
  • Collaborate with Care Teams: Work closely with families caregivers and other professionals to ensure effective clientcentered treatment plans.
  • Maintain Compliance & Documentation: Ensure accurate timely documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Stay Current & Grow: Engage in continuing education and professional development to stay updated on the latest therapy practices.
What do I need to be successful in this position
  • Education: Masters Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from theAmerican SpeechLanguageHearing Association (ASHA).(Clinical Fellowships may be considered for some positions.
  • Licensure: ActiveMissouri SpeechLanguage Pathology Licensein good standing (MO Board of Healing Arts).
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Physical Ability:Ability to stand stoop lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull items as needed.
  • Reliable Transportation:Licensed and insured driver with a vehicle available for workrelated travel.
  • Strong Communication & ProblemSolving Skills:Ability to collaborate adapt and work independently in various settings.

SPEECHLANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Definition

Utilizing leadership advocacy and collaboration the speechlanguage pathologist (SLP) provides assessment and treatment services within their scope of practice for individuals with varying diagnoses or disabilities. The SLP is responsible for working with clients and their families or caregivers to promote increased quality of life and confidence throughout the lifespan. The SLP will call work collaboratively within The Arc of the Ozarks as well as within the community.

The SLP must have excellent organization time management and communication skillsboth verbal and written. Services may be provided in a clinic schoolbased or inhome setting dependent upon the clienteles needs. The SLP is an hourly nonexempt position.

Essential Job Functions

Administer ageappropriate screenings and assessments.

Develop and implement treatment goals and objectives.

Utilize evidencebased practices for a variety of diagnoses and disabilities.

Maintain appropriate and timely documentation.

Communicate effectively with members of the clients care team and family.

Complete thorough chart reviews and obtain additional diagnostic information from the clients care team and family.

Supervise speechlanguage pathology assistants and interns.

Arrange travel time to maximize contact with students and to accomplish other duties.

Engage in continuing education and professional growth activities related to the profession and scope of practice.

Make appropriate recommendations and referrals for additional medical and other related services as needed.

Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.

Ability to problem solve and take constructive feedback.

Ability to organize tasks and manage time independently.

Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards.

Ability to interact appropriately with clients families visitors as well as Arc personnel and vendors and other professionals.

Excellent computer skills including Word Excel and electronic medical record systems for data collection and reporting.

Ability to stand stoop lift up to 50 lbs and pull and push items on an infrequent basis.

Licensed and insured driver with a vehicle available for work.

Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications

Masters Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American SpeechLanguageHearing Association

  • Clinical Fellowships may be considered for some positions.

Missouri SpeechLanguage Pathology licensure active and in good standing by the MO Board of Healing Arts
