Job Description

Structural Analysis Engineer (MidLevel & Lead)

Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer (MidLevel & Lead) to become part of the F/A18 Structural Analysis team in Hazelwood MO.

The BGS F/A18 Structural Analysis team is responsible for supporting new source stand up modifications repairs and spares production support of the F/A18 Legacy Hornet and Super Hornet as well as ensuring the structural integrity of the components. Other platforms supported within our team are F15 T45 and AV8B.

The selected candidate must be able to work in a fastpaced diverse work environment. Team members will work with crossfunctional teams including representatives from Design Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Liaison Engineering Technical Integration Supplier Management Production Operations and Program Management. The candidate must be able to provide technical direction to teammates on structural analysis and effectively communicate with cross functional team members.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct stress analyses of aircraft primary structures using well defined analysis tools
  • Verification of structural integrity by using analytical methods finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop and maintain the structural environment characteristics and performance.
  • Supports inservice products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
  • Development of test plans and configurations support test and analyses/reports to validate systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Support Configuration Control Board and Engineering Review Board as a Strength Engineering Lead
  • Provide leadership and technical oversight to other Structural Analysis Engineers.
  • Support ongoing supplier and customer activities providing realtime support.
  • Works under minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry
  • 3 years experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools
  • 3 years experience in structural analysis
  • Experience independently constructing executing reviewing and managing structural finite element models using NASTRAN/PATRAN ABAQUS Hypermesh Optistruct Mechanica etc.
  • Experience in role that required leadership in structural analysis
  • Knowledge of structural design principles for aircraft primary structure (e.g. fatigue damage tolerance corrosion stress analysis statics materials strength material characteristics and repair techniques)
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20 of the time domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college university technical school licensing/certification programs etc. (Level 4
  • Experience with composites design and analysis methodologies.
  • Experience in postproduction systems with emphasis in military aircraft sustainment repairs and modification programs.
  • Experience with analytical communication and problemsolving skills.
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • F/A18 experience
