Job Description
The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Procurement Manager to be responsible for the development andimplementation of purchasing/procurement/sourcing policies and administration of all purchasingactivities. Purchasing activities will include: selecting sources of supply approving purchase ordersmanaging relationships with suppliers and negotiating terms of contracts.
This role will be a fulltime position that can be based out of our Carpinteria CA or Bakersfield CAoffices. Must have ability to travel up to 20 (as needed) between these offices.
As part of the Global Planning Team the Procurement Manager will have the opportunity to oversee the operational procurement for ourvendors and manage a large team within a complex department.
What were looking for:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Logistics Business chemical/technical or relatedfield.
- Experience:
- 8 Years of related Supply Chain experience; 3 years leadership experience.
- Contract Negotiation experience.
- Global Supply Chain Cost Reduction and Supply Chain Trouble shooting/Problem Solvingexperience desired.
- Experience in a regulated/complex chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
- Certification(s): APICS/CPIM certification desirable.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to be a servant leader.
- Understanding of forecast and replenishment theory.
- Strong analytical written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS office suite (Excel Access Word).
- Expert knowledge and practical use of Forecasting and Inventory Planning tools; i.e. LogilitySAP or equivalent.

- Oversee team that is accountable for the procurement of spend across the region.
- Assist in negotiating terms and contracts with suppliers along with sourcing business partners.
- Provide exceptional service and communication together with improvingefficiency and transparency.
- Lead and manage a high performing team to support the delivery of exceptional service to ourcustomers.
- Monitor team performance and conduct a regular review of and appraisals of goals set.
- Work with local management and central teams support the identification of best practiceand new processes across the region.
- Manage the order placement and delivery of regional warehouse operations and direct tocustomers.
- Drive efficiency gains in the operational processes.
- Working with Customer Services Suppliers Demand and the Global teams identify andimplement process improvements to improve costs and OTIF performance.
- In conjunction with various local and central teams define special services and where neededsupport development activities with the procurement development inventory and operationsteam.
- Drive best practice and standardization.
- Ensure purchase order confirmation dates are maintained by regular and effective expediting bythe team members.
- Ensure delivery queries and supplier issues are managed promptly and communicatedeffectively.
- Ensure invoice price and quantity differences are managed effectively.
- Ensure that the team works in accordance with the approved company operating policiesprocedures practices and methods.
- Manage and professionally develop team members.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pretax pay for this position is
$112400.00 $187400.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
