Have you studied or worked in the field of engineering and are ready to obtain a position that will allow you to expand your knowledge and experience Consider the role of Engineering Technician for the Department of Transportation where you will participate in our 12month comprehensive training program that will encompass several fields of engineering technology through out your training period. Through your participation in the comprehensive training program you will acquire essential skills to assist in the inspection of all facets of transportation construction projects. This includes verifying grades elevations and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. You will play a vital role in completing necessary documentation reviewing contractor work and working as part of the inspection team in accordance with departmental standards. Additionally you will engage with Department staff various agencies legislators and the public to ensure the effective management of transportation projects. Your responsibilities will also include addressing field construction issues performing calculations to verify material consistency creating sketches noting changes in field plans and maintaining detailed inspection and quality control reports. Ultimately you will support the successful completion of transportation projects while adhering to all regulations policies and procedures thereby promoting efficiency and costeffectiveness.
