Hours:

Monday Friday 8hour shifts with a flexible start time between 4:00 am 6:00 am.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Materials Tech is an allaround team member who is trained and able to perform all different functions in the Materials Management department. Under the direction of the Logistics Manager Senior Materials Tech or the OR Materials Supervisor the Materials Tech performs PAR and inventory management; supply and equipment receiving delivery and inventory management; and or case carts as directed. The Materials Tech may be asked to perform any of these tasks based on the hospital volume and staffing of the department.

Essential Job Functions

  • May require operation of a vehicle for our organization.

  • Must possess a valid current South Carolina drivers license and insurable under our organization vehicle insurance plan which will be verified by reviewing licensure and driving record.

  • PAR and Inventory Management or Case Carts:counts and checks inventories at the PAR locations.

  • Fills ondemand requests for supplies and rotates stock at PAR locations.

  • Checks for outdates at PAR locations and issues products from the storeroom.

  • Maintain a clean and organized materials storage area.

  • Delivers products from the storeroom when ordered or Case Carts based on pick tickets.

  • Communicates any shortages or discrepancies immediately to the appropriate Logistics Manager or Materials Supervisor.

  • Delivers products ordered by customers in a timely manner and requests signature as required.

  • Utilizes handheld scanners appropriately to track chain of custody for packages received and delivered throughout health system.

  • Follows defined processes to ensure receipts are accurate prior to placing products into inventory.

  • Assists in keeping delivery areas clean and functional.

Work Experience

  • Two years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse preferred or previous customer service or retail experience.

Requires full range of body motion manual dexterity eyehand coordination. Requires constant walking and standing with moderate to strenuous exertion in pushing pulling carrying and lifting medium to heavy weight supplies. Potential for injuries such as muscle strains and punctures require correct use of lifting and motion techniques. Must be able to work in dry and dusty atmosphere and may be exposed to inclement conditions. May be exposed to blood and bodily fluids. Sitting 10 Standing 20 and Walking 70. Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs. Requires constant walking and standing with moderate to strenuous exertion in pushing pulling carrying and lifting medium to heavy supplies. Potential for injuries such as muscle strains and punctures which require routine precautions. Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions. Subject to shift work.

  • Can handle supply carts and can operate cardboard compactor manual and powered pallet jacks.
