About the Faculty of Continuing Education
Mount Royal Universitys Faculty of Continuing Education has provided high quality education to the Calgary community and beyond for more than 75 years. Serving more than 30000 students per year we offer a suite of Ministry of Advanced Educationapproved programs (occupational programs in massage personal fitness trainer and funeral education; academic upgrading; and our Transitional Vocational Programming) over 60 programs and 350 courses to support professional and personal development in a wide range of topics and our Conservatory (which offers a broad range of music and speech arts programming). Our courses cover a wide range of topics including but not limited to business technology and health. These courses are offered in a variety of formats on campus online in the workplace and in the community.
About the Role
The department is seeking a professional interested in contributing their expertise to teach in the Massage Therapy Diploma.

Days and Times Offered:Blended
Course Description:Learn the components of regulatory exams; an objective standardized clinical examination (OSCE) and a multiplechoice question (MCQ) examination. Apply knowledge and skills to a variety of massage therapy clinical scenarios and prepare to demonstrate knowledge and skills in a final comprehensive OSCE and MCQ.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- utilize selfreflection to identify personal strengths and areas for improvement in preparation for final comprehensive exams
- review material relating to areas selfidentified as needing improvement
- contribute to an effective collaborative atmosphere
- demonstrate proficiency in skills learned to date
- define and discuss OSCE & MCQ evaluations
- recognize the purpose of OSCE & MCQ evaluations
- apply skills and knowledge to support performance in OSCE & MCQ evaluations
- develop a systematic approach to each OSCE testing station
- examine and apply the massage therapy profession standards of practice
- compare the entry to practice exams offered by the regulatory colleges for massage therapy in Canada
This blended course has an online lecture and inperson components. The instructor will use the approved curriculum; implementation of applicable curriculum assessment measures; marking and submitting final course grades. The instructor will also be required to maintain regular contact with the administration team and adhere to university policies and deadlines.
Responsibilities
Instruction:
- Lesson preparation
- Course delivery
- Marking/grading
- Course outline preparation
- Facilitate course delivery using approved curriculum and learning materials
- Review and revision of course assessments
- Host virtual Google Meet sessions with students once per week or at least twice during the course
- An online instructor is required to access the course daily; however there are no predetermined times of the day an instructor is required to be online. Online instructors must have reliable internet service throughout the entire period of the course.
- Reply to students within 2448 hours.
Administration:
- Marking and submission of course grades
- Maintain regular contact with the program administrative team
- Participate in virtual instructor meetings and individual meetings with the program coordinator as required
- Participate in meetings and adhere to university policies and deadlines
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary credential in a related field
- Proficient understanding of the InterJurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators for Massage Therapists at EntrytoPractice.
- Working knowledge of copyright and APA citation
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with accreditation
- Instructional experience in an adult education environment is an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Selfmotivated and selfdirected
- Proficiency with Google Workspace
- Proficiency with the D2L learning management system is an asset
