The Product Line Manager is responsible for overseeing the development management and success of a specific product line within the company. This role involves strategic planning market analysis and crossfunctional collaboration to ensure the product line meets customer needs achieves business objectives and maintains a competitive edge in the market. The Product Line Manager will drive new product introductions manage the product lifecycle and work closely with sales marketing and engineering teams to maximize profitability and growth.
Product Line Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for the product line that align with the companys business goals and market demands.
New Product Identification: Identify and recommend new products for specific markets. Assess the viability of adding new products and lines to the current product portfolio.
Market Research & Vendor Relations: Conduct market research through attending trade shows reviewing trade magazines and collaborating with vendors sales teams and other outlets to identify new product opportunities. Ensure all proposed products and vendors are properly evaluated and vetted.
Sales & Inventory Tracking: Track sales of assigned products quarterly to ensure optimal inventory levels. Work with purchasing to ensure that stock levels are maintained at the lowest cost.
Pricing & Marketing Strategy: Develop and recommend pricing policies and marketing strategies based on analysis of sales margins transactions and competitive trends.
Collaboration with CrossFunctional Teams: Collaborate with sales marketing and engineering teams to maximize product line profitability and success. Provide training to internal sales staff on assigned product lines.
Vendor/Manufacturer Relationships: Work closely with key vendors and manufacturers to establish strong relationships manage promotions and execute events that strengthen sales strategies.
Perform ancillary duties as assigned.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Education: Bachelors degree in marketing business management mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in product management new product development and product lifecycle management. 710 years preferred.
Experience with ERP systems such as Sage SAP Great Plains Oracle etc.
Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Ability to manage complex pricing models and strategies.
Must be an independent thinker capable of formulating conclusions based on data.
Proven leadership skills with experience working collaboratively across functions.
Strong mechanical aptitude and product knowledge.
Exceptional negotiation and sales skills.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
