Position Overview The Secondary English Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that fosters academic social and emotional growth in secondary students. Key responsibilities include planning and implementing engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards assessing student progress differentiating instruction to meet individual needs and building strong relationships with students and families. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator with a strong understanding of the International Baccalaureate and effective teaching strategies. Minimum Requirements: - BA or equivalent in English (or related field)
- At least five years of fulltime teaching experience
- Nativespeaker proficiency in the target instructional language (English)
Preferred Qualifications: - Masters degree in education (or related field)
- International and/or independent school experience
- International Baccalaureate Diploma Program or MYP experience
- Certification in education and/or related subject area
- At least three years of teaching experience in a Secondary setting
- Bilingual (or highly proficient) in French or Spanish
- Demonstrated digital proficiency in current tools and platforms (electronic gradebooks Learning Management Systems online learning platforms digital portfolios AIassisted technology etc.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria: - Possesses excellent teaching skills and pedagogy
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of the application of interactive methodologies technology integration and online learning software and/or platforms
- Be wellversed in current research and best practices in teaching and learning
- Foster crosscultural understanding within the classroom and curriculum
- Effectively teach classes as allocated to mixedability classes drawn from a wide range of cultural backgrounds including students for whom English may not be their first language
- Contribute to the development of the curriculum (the production and ongoing review of units and/or longterm plans including Interdisciplinary units)
Expectations: - Effectively teach English Language & Literature including the undertaking of appropriate lesson preparation and assessing and evaluating students
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the curriculum
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and development
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners
- Assess student learning use data to adapt learning plans and provide timely feedback
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and consistently
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement best practices

- Incorporate cultural elements into lessons and activities
- Encourage students to develop empathy and respect for all stakeholders
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and concerns
- Build strong relationships with parents and involve them in their childs education
- Organize parentteacher conferences and other opportunities for parent involvement
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education
- Attend and positively contribute to grade faculty division and allschool meetings as necessary
- Supervise students during lunch recess morning arrivel and afternoon dismissal and other noninstructional times
- Assist with schoolwide initiatives and events
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Adhere to school policies and procedures
