Assistant in Training - Cliffhanger

POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Helps to maintain a clean safe and orderly maintenance facility.

• Collaborates with the superintendent and assistants to schedule and implement agronomic plan.

• Helps train staff on correct procedures for all maintenance activities as well as be involved and active with all course jobs and activities.

• Communicates all necessary information to pro shop team mechanics and other resort personnel as it pertains to golf maintenance operations.

• Remains heavily involved in the spray program and other applications on the property.

• Ensures adequate inventory of chemical and fertilizer needs.

• Assists staff and acts as a lead on project activities on the course.

• Schedules irrigation systems operation and assist in trouble shooting any irregularities.

• Operates primary turf equipment and heavy equipment as needed for projects.

• Maintains a clean and safe work area environment on the course in the maintenance building and in all related work area.

• Proposes improvement ideas to enhance work environment operations efficiency and/or streamline work processes to the Superintendent and Assistants.

• Reports unsafe conditions and situations that warrant attention to a member of the golf course leadership team immediately or as soon as is practical.

• Attends seminars for related professional training.

• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: A certificate associate or bachelors degree in turf related field preferred.

• Certificate(s) or License(s): Possess a valid drivers license and/or successfully completes the Clubs internal motor vehicle training program.

• Obtain a Missouri pesticide license within 90 days.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:

• Knowledge of irrigation controls and computer systems.

• Ability to operate basic landscape equipment.

• Effective communication skills.

• Must be highly organized and have sound time management.

• Ability to work with accuracy and utilize effective judgment under the pressure of time sensitive deadlines.

• Ability to work effectively in a teamoriented work environment.

• High attention for detail

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Regular walking sitting standing and lifting up to 50 lbs.

• Occasional computer work.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

• Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision using welldefined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
