Job Description

Are you a passionate and innovative HR leader ready to make a real difference in the lives of students Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Human Resources (Employment) to join our team and lead the charge in attracting developing and retaining top talent.

Reporting directly to the Chief Human Capital Officer and as a key member of the HR Leadership Team you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our district. This is more than just a job; its an opportunity to build a thriving educational community.

  • Lead the Way: Oversee all aspects of TUSDs employment functions from hiring and onboarding to compensation classification employee records and substitute teacher services. Youll be at the helm of a dedicated team of HR professionals empowering them to excel.
  • Be a Strategic Partner: Collaborate with district leadership to develop and implement impactful HR policies and initiatives that align with TUSDs strategic goals. Your insights will directly influence the districts success.

REPORTS TO

Chief Human Capital Officer

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Human Capital Officer this leader will manage a team responsible for hiring onboarding compensation employee records substitute services and HR operations. The ideal candidate is a creative adaptable leader with strong communication skills experience in organizational planning and policy implementation and a passion for fostering a positive work environment. This role is critical to attracting developing and retaining a highquality workforce dedicated to serving TUSDs students and families.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Masters degree in Human Resources Management Business Administration or a related field and five 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources including at least three 3 years in a supervisory or management role.

OR

Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management Business Administration or a related field and seven 7 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources including at least three 3 years in a supervisory or management role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual (English/Spanish).

SHRMCP SHRMSCP PHR or SPHR or similar certification.

Three years of experience in a public school district or similar public organization (e.g. government).

Two years of experience using one or more of the districts specific HRIS products (specifically Infinite Visions SpringSchool/TalentEd Red Rover Frontline).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

FBI fingerprint background check.

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization.

MVReport showing no more than the allowable points against Drivers License as described underGoverning Board Policy: EEBR1Business and Personnel Transportation Services Transportation by Employees.

SALARY RANGE:$85429.09 $99180.51 annually

WORK CALENDAR: 12 month
