TITLE: School Psychologist
REPORTS TO: Chief of Talent and Strategy
Deputy Superintendent
Superintendent of Schools
TERM: 11 months
JOB GOAL: To facilitate learning and to promote the cognitive social and personal development of all students. Identifies and assesses the learning development characteristics and needs of individuals and groups as well as the environmental factors that affect learning. Uses assessment data about the student and develops appropriate interventions and programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:
- Certification by the appropriate state agency
- Hold a M.A. M.S. . Ed.S EdD or PH.D. Degree
- Competent to evaluate students in the suspected disability area.
- Integrate data from assessments and develop hypotheses related to instructional and educational programming and program eligibility and placement.
- Understands more than one model of consultation.
EVALUATION: The performanceof this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the Boards policy on the evaluation of personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Description: School Psychologist
- Identifies and assesses the learning development and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups as well as environmental factors that affect learning and adjustments. Use assessment data about the student and develop appropriate interventions and programs.
- Provide interventions to students to support the teaching process in order to maximize adjustments.
- Deliver a planned and coordinated program of psychological services.
- Assist in planning development and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs of students
- Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results including assisting general and special education staff with suggestions and implementation in working with special needs students in the classroom setting.
- Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information.
- Reevaluate as appropriate to determine and extent of progress and effectiveness of therapy.
- Participate as part of the IEP committee contributing to evaluation findings and collaborating on the childs Individual Educational Plan.
- Work with the special services team by helping where needed.
- Have the computer skills necessary to learn computer programs.
- Assist with other duties assigned by the special services director.
