Job Description

Overview:Math teachers are responsible for creating safe engaging and respectful learning environments for all students. This individual demonstrates sound pedagogical knowledge and understanding of math content areas. The candidate has an understanding of the Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Framework. The candidate employs a variety of age and developmentally appropriate instructional methods and tools designed to meet the needs of all learners. The ideal candidate collaborates well with colleagues to teach math concepts to a diverse group of students. The candidate can successfully establish strong relationships with students faculty parents and community. These anticipated openings are due to retirements in the department. Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to:Plan organize and deliver lessons and learning activities that align with the Massachusetts Math Curriculum Frameworks and utilize the Universal Design for Learning guidelinesCreate a classroom learning environment that is engaging for students and in which mutual respect is shownImplement authentic assessments to determine student growth and effectively communicate feedback and data to students parents administrationWork with colleagues to plan instruction based upon explicit goals regarding what students should know and be able to doIncorporate a variety of instructional methods technology and media best suited for math content and skillsEstablish and maintain standards for student behavior that afford a healthy safe and enjoyable learning environmentModel nondiscriminatory practices in all Requirements:MA licensure in Mathematics 812Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Learn More:Learn More: Westford Academy Program of StudiesContact Information:Joe Barnas 612 STEM Curriculum Westford Public Schools23 Depot Massachusetts
