PURPOSE
The Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science (CBI) at Texas A&M UniversityCorpus Christi (TAMUCC) is inviting applications for a Contract and Grant Analyst. This position provides contract and grant accounting and business support for the institute. This position plays a critical role in the financial success of the institute.

The Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science (CBI) at TAMUCC is an collaborative research environment utilizing geospatial science to support data driven decision making. The institutes research laboratories develop innovative solutions informed by precise measurements honoring the legacy of the Blucher family and their commitment to surveying and science. CBI pushes the boundaries of geospatial science by applying cutting edge technologies to map measure collect and manage big data used to predict our physical environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
PostAward Accounting: 50
Assists Executive Director and institute staff with financial duties for CBI.
Monitors financial transactions on Blucher accounts for accuracy allowability and allocability in accordance with university and sponsor policy.
Provides Principal Investigators (PIs) with reports and advises on spending rate as compared to sponsored project timeline and budget.
Monitors extramural invoicing and prepares invoices for sponsored project accounts as needed.
Assists with fiscal year end closing functions.
Through planning and analysis maintains a positive balance in accounts.
Researches investigates and analyzes any account discrepancies. Prepares and/or approves Department Budget Requests (DBR) (budget) Department Correction Requests (DCR) (expenses) and Journal Entries as needed.
Oversight and Compliance: 20
Oversees purchasing travel and other financial transactions and aids in processing transactions as needed.
Ensures compliance with export control requirements for international travel and at the point of purchase for drones and any other items requiring export control review.
Trains support staff/student workers and ensures that revolving deadlines are met.
Attends training sessions and campus meetings as required.
Payroll Accounting: 20
Prepares and monitors payroll transactions including stewardship of CBI s Payroll Clearing Account.
Ensures that payroll expenditures are accurate and compliant with sponsored project agreements.
Analyzes payroll and develops projections to advise PIs on salary coverage for institute personnel.
Reviews and ensures accuracy of biannual time and effort reports for institute personnel.
Processes Payroll Cost Transfers (PCT) when corrective action is required.
Teamwork and Collaboration: 10
Assists PIs with budget development and make recommendations on cost considerations.
Develops an understanding of the work conducted by the institute.
Builds relationships with colleagues both within and outside of the institute.
Utilizes resources ask questions and troubleshoots to complete job duties.
Utilizes exceptional communication skills to share information both within and outside of the institute.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in business.
Five 5 years of experience in contract and grant administration in a university or state agency setting or three years of experience as a Grants Administrator I in the TAMU System or related experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook etc..
High level of articulation and professionalism.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in sponsored projects administration with an emphasis in postaward accounting functions.
Direct experience with Federal and State of Texas policies and procedures governing travel and purchasing.
Knowledge of Texas A&M University System contracts and grants accounting and administrative procedures.
Demonstrated success using Microsoft Access and Power BI Data Warehouse/Business Objects and FAMIS accounting system.
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
SALARY: Up to $6250.00 Monthly $75000.00 Annual Approximately)
