PRECISE (Prepare REact Collect Innovate Share and Engage Pandemic Platform) is a recently funded multiinstitution project that aims to advance pandemic preparedness and biomanufacturing in Canada. PRECISEs Directors at Sinai Health Drs. Jennie Johnstone and AnneClaude Gingras are working with a team of > 60 researchers across multiple organizations in Canada along with partners in public health and public/private sectors to improve diagnostics. Drs. Susan Poutanen and Vanessa Allen are working on diagnostic pandemic preparedness work related to PRECISE. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Diagnostics Project Manager with expertise in clinical and/or basic microbiology research to coordinate the Diagnostics Domain work across all partner institutions and industry partners.
Responsibilities:
1. Diagnostics Research Management
- Coordinate between the hospital laboratories commercial diagnostic partners labdeveloped test (LDT) partners and research lab testing teams to ensure efficient integration and collaboration across all testing environments.
- Manage the infrastructure and methodologies necessary for the evaluation of diagnostic assays to support commercial and academic partners.
- Initiate and manage relevant contracts REB approvals agreements and establish seamless partnerships with hospital laboratories provincial and national laboratories academic institutions and commercial partners.
- Manage lab technician in developing and organizing validation panels utilizing both clinical human and animal samples and engineered samples.
- Provide support to the PRECISE project managers in developing protocols essential for the collection of specimens.
- Help coordinate and manage the collecting handling storage and sharing of clinical and research specimens across all domains of PRECISE.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of all validation panels and quality control standards created for PRECISE.
- Create service packages and engage in marketing outreach and social media with commercial academic and diagnostic partners.
- Compile biosafety standards for handling specimens and isolates related to anticipated novel pandemic pathogens .
2. Project Management
- Set goals to meet project deadlines in collaboration with the research team.
- Ensure that work plans and timelines are followed by the research team.
- Coordinate and monitor study progress including the tracking of study targets and milestones to help ensure they are met.
- Assist the Diagnostics Domain leads with coordination of PRECISEassociated grant applications study proposals protocols reporting and budgets
- Prepare project reports for management sponsors or other authorities.
- Assist the Diagnostics Domain team in providing financial oversight of projects.
3. Communication and human resources
- Plan manage and handle communications related to research projects in collaboration with the PRECISE WP3 leads.
- Coordinate Diagnostic Domain investigator meetings.
- Assist the Domain leads with effective human resource allocation through recruitment selection training and performance management.
- Build and foster effective working relationships with study sites industry partners related study personnel and other stakeholders.
- Act as a resource to other PRECISE staff across institutions.
- As required assist the PRECISE WP3 leads in supervising other study team members.
- Other duties as assigned by PRECISE WP3 leads as needed.
- PhD in Infectious Disease Microbiology Immunology or a related field or healthcare professional degree
- Two years of research or diagnostic laboratory management or equivalent experience required
- Experience in infectious/communicable disease research preferred
- Experience in a diagnostic laboratory preferred
- Experience in the commercial diagnostic industry and diagnostic test validation is an asset
- Experience or interest in outreach marketing and social media is an asset
- Current certification in Good Clinical Practice and training in research ethics for human subjects research are assets
- Superior interpersonal skills
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Excellent problemsolving and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software tools
- Knowledge of database management software and/or REDCap is an asset
- Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
