Job Description
Tectonic is actively seeking experienced fulltime Project Estimators forupcoming MTA Transit projects (NYC Transit Metro North Railroad Long Island Rail Road Staten Island Railway Bus etc. as well as for upcoming NJ Transit and Amtrak projects!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Create Cost Estimates and Project / Program Budgets for various designbuild and/or construction efforts;
- Perform Project Site Visits to build and update various project estimates and budgets;
- Develop and present to the client and Project Management Team baseline and updated project budgets cost projections / estimatesatcompletion and other cost analytics;
- Review analyze and comment on baseline contractor payment schedules and breakdowns;
- Create independent cost estimates for Change Orders / Additional Work Orders;
- Review contractorsubmitted cost proposals for and create cost comparison documents;
- Assist in Change Order / Additional Work Order negotiations;
- Provide guidance relative to fairandreasonable nature of various contractorsubmitted cost proposals and associated unitcost pricings as compared to industry standard pricing;
- Assist with cost / budget elements of Monthly Status Reporting;
- Attend and participate in project meetings as required;
- All related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in planning estimating monitoring and project controls of rail transit construction / designbuild projects or equivalent;
- Strong computer skills with thorough knowledge of construction industry cost estimating budgeting principles practices and construction means and methods applicable to the heavy civil / rail transit field of work;
- HS Diploma/Equivalent required; BS Degree in Construction Management Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred;
- Ability to understand and interpret written specifications plans and construction documents for work orders and build documents;
- Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with clients supervisors and Project Team members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position handle inspect and/or feel documents materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee is also regularly required to move around on project sites and within buildings and other structures including ascending or descending the landscape or on a ladder and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment frequently for prolonged periods of time. For rail transit projects the jobsite will often consist of hazards associated with an operating rail transit system including but not limited to: trains traveling at high rates of speed adjacent to the work area electrified third rail or catenary wire stone ballast walking surfaces track systems including running rail concrete or creosotesoaked timber ties and uneven ballast surfaces.
The employee will also communicate with colleagues supervisors and clients utilizing Corporate and client email and telephone systems. Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements US DOT Regulations and/or Company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer as well as other related office machinery such as calculators printers and copy machines. This position also may require the regular operation of a motorvehicle which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.

PAY RANGE
Tectonics goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidates work location experience education certifications and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $75000 $155000 / year
